Pony Club believes that our Alumni are our greatest achievement, and our investment toward assuring a strong, vibrant equestrian culture in the future.
Pony Club Alumni can be found all over the world, in show rings, veterinary practices, boardrooms and classrooms, gracing Olympic podiums or shoeing horses in your neighborhood barn. They are coaches, teachers, executives, law officers, parents and citizens just like you.
They are the people who are making a difference by giving back to their communities through the same volunteerism that was part of their formative journey. But they all share a common experience and that is the lifelong connection to the Pony Club family.
With clubs operating in 27 countries around the globe, Pony Club Alumni have friends and peers wherever they go. Many lifelong friendships have had their roots in the shared journey that is Pony Club.

Found my years in PC wonderful and was glad after we moved that I was able to later join another PC that had just started up in my area. I was lucky and participated in D and C Rallies and competed at National Quiz, often placing in the top 5 A/B quiz, while available horses held me back to D and C Testing. I achieved my C2.

I participated in Reional and National Quiz, Regional Tetrathlons, Regional ShowJumping and Dressage Championships. Participated in Western Canada's Showjumping and Dressage championships when they were held at Spruce Meadows. I taught for the Pony Club for 7 years, gave regional showjumping and cross-country clinics, coached swimming, running and riding portions of tetrathlon. I taught vaulting and had a group that we would travel regionally to do demonstrations. Was a tester/examiner for stable management and riding portions up to B level.

I remember going to a D level competition in southern Ontario. It was a big trip for us and I still remember the fun and challenge of the competition. I have been riding for 36 years and still value the Pony Club basics I learned. I even still have my original Manual of Horsemanship from 1972, and am surprised at how little has changed!

I was a member of the Western Ontario National Rally Team with David Schofield and Sherri Summerville. My most memorable experience with Ponyclub was seeing all my friends every summer and competing in the Western Ontario C-B-A Rally at Mohawk racetrack when we competed from Thursday to Sunday. Another amazing memory was being on one of the first Masters PPG teams, when the division was started. That was an incredible experience having the younger kids watch us (old) folks try to out run and out play each other. We would take some incredible risks and the younger kids were saying 'we want to try that'. What I miss most about Ponyclub is losing touch with my friends after going away to school and the comradery between the clubs when we all got together.

Represented my region, not long ago, at Nationals and Provincials, in everything from Quiz, Rally, Tetrathlon, as a stable management judge, and mentor. Currently using my Pony Club skills learned from a young age to travel the world and instruct and learn at various equestrian centres. So far, Ireland (Ashford Castle), New Zealand (Tui Glen Horse Treks), and Thetis Island, BC. Pony Club has also give me the boost into the BHS, which I am now a full member of and involved in getting my Instructors while I am here in Ireland. I continue to be in contact with my local branch back home, and when I return to visit I give presentations, and hopefully inspiration, to the new members of our club!

Had a lot of fun, learned a lot, both about horses, riding and horsekeeping, and about politics. I was unpopular with the Pony Club infrastructure because I was interested in hunters and showjumping, and excelled at this competitively, rather than eventing and dressage. Camp was the highlight of the summer each year, and I did some teaching there for the Vic-Saanich branch in the later years. Some of what I was learning at the time was from working in a top local racing barn, and some from riding in the A circut shows and at the open jumper and Grand Prix level (on a horse that I had developed myself from the greenbroke stage) and some of this conflicted with what was taught by Pony Club instructors. When I failed my B2 exam on bandaging because I did not end an exercise bandage ABOVE the ankle (as was incorrectly shown in the PC manual) and had not cleaned my horses' sheath adequately (these days sheath cleaning has been shown to cause more problems than it solves), I got a bit sour on pony club. I had been given 2 days warning for the written test, and it was scheduled at the same time as my University of Victoria final exams that year. So I wrote Biology, Chemistry, Pony Club, English, and Physics all within a week. Passed all of them. No studying for the pony club test. The pony club riding test took nearly 12 hours to complete, an exhausting day, the written test about three hours if I remember correctly. It's really too bad, as I would have liked to at least attempt my Pony Club A test, though with the politics involved, unlikely that I would have been allowed to pass. In open competition, the local Pony Club A riders regularly placed below my finishes, or were not entered in the advanced classes. I already knew that I would continue working with horses as a lifetime project, and turned away from Pony Club and specialized in hunter/jumper training and competing at the highest levels available to me, and continued working with racehorses. Became a racehorse trainer in 1984, and since then have been a public race trainer, and now a private trainer only. Have raised, trained and campaigned several stakes class racehorses, including BC Sprint Champion and multiple stakes winner, Sloshed. I currently own and manage a TB breeding and training facility, stand a TB stallion at stud, race my horses, and play at the local horseshows for fun and profit selling my horses when I can. I have so many wonderful memories of my days in Pony Club. Going to PPG, Rally at Mowhawk, Quiz in Sudbury. All are memories I hold very fond. I am now involved in horses with my children and really miss the days where horsemanship was as important as the riding itself. Now it's about the shows and riding but not so much how to get there. My parents were also very involved in Pony Club, as DC, and involvement in the starting of Tetrathalon in Canada.Pony Club for me, was wonderful in the way that it encouraged Team spirit and comraderie.It was a huge part of my childhood.

Pony Club has always been a very special part of my life. I have just returned to Ontario(Jan.2009)after living in Michigan for the past 17 years. I was a member of the Eglinton PC in COR and then moved to Grand River PC in WOR in 1986 where I received my A. I was the recipient of the Potomac Scholarship and attended the Potomac Horse Center's Horsemastership Program in 1979. I was part of the WOR National Rallt Team and competed in Truro in 1978(?). Since graduating from PC I have coached the Canadian team at the Australian Bi-Centennial Invitational in 1988 and the Inter Pacific hosted in Western Canada in 1993. While in the US, I have been involved in the USPC as DC, VRS, RIC,etc, etc. I currently run our Dressage and Show Jumping rallies in Great Lakes Region and am a member of the USPC Show Jumping Committee. Pony Club has been a huge part of my life and will continue to be.

Hi there I remember representing a branch called the 'Breckenridge Sub Branch' in a local three day event and just having the time of my life. My mom helped me to design and produce the fabric banner we sported at the opening and closing ceremonies. I also remember hosting several Ottawa Valley Pony Club events at the barn I rode at, it was the Irvings up in Kingsmere, Quebec. We had testing there and a gymkhana as well as some larger horse show type events, it was all so much fun! Thanks for the chance to reminisce it was lovely!

One of the best times of my life was attending the National Pony Club Rally in 1980 at Joker's Hill. I was still with the Sault Ste. Marie Pony Club and I borrowed a pony. I cannot remember anymore if I did well but it was a terrific time to meet Pony Clubbers from across Canada.

This was a very long time ago and it took a while to resurrect these memories, The more I thought about it the more popped up and this is what I came up with. I remember going to the following events. TNYH Pony Club gymkhana 1959. 12th annual Canadian Pony Club Rally in 1959 at Ancaster. I was the 'C' team's helper. 13th annual Canadian Pony Club Rally at the TNY Hunt Farm. 14th annual Canadian Pony Club Rally at London in 1961. I rode as an associate rider. I had my 'B' that year.I remember the joy I experienced as my home trained TB off the track and I achieved 2nd place in the 'A' level dressage test. I cannot remember the year that I got my 'A' but I do remember that I was in a class of 3 and the other two members to also get their 'A's at that time were Jimmy Day and Christilot Hansen.People I remember -- I lived in Vaughan Twp south of King Twp and went to meetings at Dr. Barrie's farm in King. Our instructor was Maureen Wensley. Sandy Sillcox was the DC. I remember Mr. Hollingsworth who came to give us lessons. I remember going to the Hunt Farm in the winter for lectures and Mr. Pickford teaching us about hounds and hunting.we also had instruction in show jumping from Jim Elder and trained for one rally at his farm. Other pony club members I remember were Dinny Burns, Christalot Hansen, Bobbie Baker, Tuffy Kettlewell, Claire Barrie, Danny Fitz, Jimmy Day, Angus Pickford, Nicola Kendall, Emily Dunham, and Ken--whose last name totally escapes me but he was rally captain at one of the rallies. I also met Jessie Howell from St. Mary's at one of those rallies,probably the London Rally, and many years later met her here where we both live south of Ottawa. Her name now is Jessie Hunter and through her my two youngest horse crazy daughters became members of the S.L.O.V. Pony Club which brought me back into the organization as a 'Pony Club Mum'. And that takes me full circle. My children are grown, 3 of them enjoy horses, I have a lovely little TWH mare that I trail ride daily and I have Pony Club to thank for the opportunities it gave me,to do something that has always meant the world to me.

Member of the Alberta Rally Team at Jokers Hill in 1980 (I think.) Am still filled with horror at the thought of quiz and how it was run in those days. Fondest memory is that my parents were so involved as D.C. as well as other executive positions and are still able to identify with my 'parental' jobs on the Delacour Pony Club executive as well as the Regional Executive as my daughter goes through Pony Club. This has truly become a family tradition.

I represented WOR at National Rally in Alberta, rode on the Interpacific Team in Alberta/BC and coached the Guelph Pony Club to win the National PPG championships in BC. The Pony Club gave me the opportunity to travel to other provinces and participate in other cultures; something I wouldn't have been able to do without the support of the Pony Club. Pony Club not only gave me great riding experiences, it also gave me some incredible life experiences. By allowing older pony clubbers to be involved in the teaching, planning and decision-making within the organization, Pony Club provides youth with some tremendous skills and life lessons they can apply throughout their lives. I work in a career that is extremely political and I credit the Pony Club for providing me with experiences that have allowed me to successfully navigate through the political process at work. My fondest memories of my Pony Club days are all of the friendships I have made over the years, alot of those I still enjoy today. I am very excited that most of us old pony clubbers from Guelph all have children joining Pony Club now - so we get to do this all over again together!

I competed for WOR at C level at national quiz in Nova Scotia (I think it was 1999?) and in London, Ontario the following year (2000?).I loved Pony Club as a child, I taught me a lot of valuable skills and was a great social experience. My mom was the DC for my ponyclub (High County) for several years. Someday, when I have children, I hope to get involved with ponyclub again.
