** CPC Directive on Pony Club Activities and Exposure Risk for COVID-19 - National Directive Regarding Pony Club E-Learning Activities**

Mar 29, 2020

** CPC Directive on Pony Club Activities and Exposure Risk for COVID-19 - National Directive Regarding Pony Club E-Learning Activities**

That the Management Committee agrees that all Pony Club theory activities done on currently available electronic media be considered sanctioned, provided that the Code of Conduct is followed. Any online activities requiring physical action by the participants are not included in this motion. Branches or Regions wishing to offer educational content which requires physical action must be pre-approved by the National Vice- Chair.

Some examples of electronic media platforms include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Zoom, GoTo Meeting, Adobe Connect or other digital/electronic platforms.

In an effort to continue to deliver educational content to our members during the COVID-19 situation and the ban on public gatherings, the Canadian Pony Club and its Regions and Branches are endeavoring to find creative and engaging ways to connect with our members using digital and social media platforms, while still operating within the parameters required by our insurers. We are encouraged by the creativity and initiative being shown within our community to reach out to members in a non-contact way and continue to encourage you to keep safety first in choosing your educational outreach.

This means any planned activities, which are not specifically curriculum theory based, are required to be pre-approved. These must be sent to: vice_chair@canadianponyclub.org. Requests must include an overview description of the activity, media platform being used, who will lead/instruct the activity, and any tools needed to perform the activity (for example: Baking Horse Treats, Facebook tutorial, Instructor: Jane Doe, DC of ABC branch, requires use of hand mixer and oven). This will allow us to understand the outreach that is being undertaken in each Region.

As always, parents and guardians should be cautioned to supervise the activities to maximize safety and enjoyment of the activity. In all things, the Pony Club policy is to err on the side of caution, implement good risk management strategies and follow the direction of acknowledged authorities. The Sport Law & Strategy Group has been assisting organizations such as ours on navigating the situation we find ourselves in and has confirmed that like any other activity, E-learning must be properly sanctioned to enable response by our insurer.

We continue to encourage all of our people to err on the side of safety in their personal decision-making, to learn and follow the guidelines put forth by their own provincial government and health authorities, and to exercise extreme personal diligence when it comes to hand washing, sanitizing and social interaction. We are family, and community, and you matter to us.
