Quiz is the one non-riding competitive event at Pony Club, and is a test of knowledge at the D, C, and AB levels. Quiz is held at the Regional and National levels.
The BC Lower Mainland holds its Quiz each spring as one of first events on the Pony Club calendar. Quiz is a test of stable management knowledge, as well as a very social activity. It is a wonderful way to study for Stable Management! Quiz is a regional competition- last year over 200 kids participated. It's a great way to make friends in our branch, and to meet kids from around the Lower Mainland. Most clubs begin Quiz practices some time in the fall or winter. The kids meet informally and break into small groups to study with an adult or senior member as a tutor.
Quiz is quite challenging and perfect papers are very rare. This is in contrast to the annual written test where perfect papers are not unusual. As an example the following table shows the percentage scores of the first place second place and last place papers at Quiz 2007.
| 1st | 2nd | Last | |
| E | 72.5 | 69.5 | > 55.0 |
| D | 69.0 | 68.5 | > 45.0 |
| D1 | 80.0 | 75.0 | > 50.0 |
| D2 | n/a | 83.0 | > 50.0 |
| C | 78.5 | 75.5 | > 40.0 |
| C1 | 82.5 | 81.0 | > 40.0 |
| C2 | 75.0 | 74.0 | > 45.0 |
| A/B | 100.5 | 95.0 | > 60.0 |
The actual competition is usually held in Langley in late February. Quiz is a very labour intensive activity- last year we had over 200 kids participating!
