Education : About Pony Club
Sep 7, 2004

Pony Club has a comprehensive program of education and testing of riding skills and horse knowledge, starting from the lowest ‘E’ level, through the ‘D’, ‘D1’, and ‘D2’ levels, the ‘C’, ‘C1’, and ‘C2’ levels and the ‘B’ and ‘B2’, and the ‘A’. The ‘D’ levels are analogous to Primary School, the ‘Cs’ to High School, and the ‘Bs’ to College with the ‘As’ as graduate school. As in the school system, the young person works his or her way up the ladder; some finish at the ‘A’ level, some at the ‘C’ level. The achievement process is an educational one, and is not competitive.  The children, as they progress through Pony Club, are obligated to donate their expertise and time to helping instruct those less experienced. It is an ongoing process involving learning and/or teaching.

The education program is focused on teaching all aspects of horsemanship and horse knowledge. While some clubs organize riding leasons this is not generally considered part of the Pony Club educational program.

At the lower levels, education is organized by the branches and consists of stable management leasons. At this level the leasons are taught by senior members. At the higher levels education is it is mixture of branch and regional instruction.
