About Tetrathlon

Tetrathlon provides pony club members with a challenging competition requiring sound practical horsemanship, general athletic ability and sportsmanship. Tetrathlon involves four disciplines: cross country riding, stadium jumping, cross country running, swimming and air pistol shooting. Points are awarded for performance in each of the events and the winner is the one who amasses the greatest number of points after the four disciplines.

Mini-meets are held in the spring as training events, and usually encompass just three disciplines: shooting, swimming and running. WOR's Regional Tetrathlon is held at the end of June. For those who quality, National and International opportunities are also available.

Training for this event is really like preparing for four different events, and involves quite a commitment of time to practice all aspects. Participants should be shooting, riding, running and swimming at least once a week to develop their stamina and perfect their skills. (from the Canadian Pony Club website)

A current copy of the CPC National Tetrathlon rules is available on the CPC website.
