Western Ontario Regional RallyA general description of Rally is given under common Pony Club information so this page will focus on the things specific to Western Ontario Region. Following many years of holding our Rally at the Mohawk Raceway, Western Ontario has held the Rally in most years since 1994 at Checkmate Farm which is located about half way between Orangeville and Owen Sound near Feversham, Ont.
Our sincere thanks go to Russell Smith and his staff for making this International quality facility available to us. In the past, Western Ontario Rallies have included visiting Pony Clubbers from as far away as Tasmania and full teams from New York and Pennsylvania. We offer Entry (2'9"), Pre-Training (3'0"), Training (3'3") and Preliminary (3'7") divisions if there are sufficient entries. There is a Roads and Tracks course as part of the Endurance phase for all Divisions. It will be about 2KM long at 220 meters/min. A jumping round with clear round ribbons awarded will be provided for the helpers over a a D2 level (refer to D Rally) course following the completion of the regular Stadium Jumping phase. In the Entry, Pre-Training and Training divisions, teams are made up of either 3 or 4 riders and 2 team managers or helpers. The best 3 out of 4 rider scores are counted to determine ribbon placings. In the Preliminary Division, teams are made up of 2 riders and one team manager or helper with all scores counting. Ribbons are awarded for 1st to 5th place teams in each Division based on overall scores and separate ribbons are presented for placings in Stable Management (including Turnout and Quiz scores). The first place teams in the Preliminary and Training Divisions earn the "Golden Pitchfork" to keep for a year. Overall team placings earn points towards the Western Ontario High Points Award which goes to the Branch which earns the most points during the year in all disciplines. Ribbons for 1st to 5th place are presented to individuals for placings in the Dressage and Endurance phases of each Division, for overall scores in each Division and for clear rounds in Stadium Jumping.
