Tetrathlon

What is Tetrathlon?

Tetrathlon is a very demanding competition with four parts: swimming, running, riding, and shooting. Tetrathlon encourages, promotes and develops a Pony Club member's interest in horses and horsemanship by combining riding with other athletic activities.

Tetrathlon provides pony club members with a challenging competition requiring sound practical horsemanship, general athletic ability and sportsmanship.

The Caledon Pony Club has always done well in Tetrathlon, and is often represented at both the Regional and National levels.  This sport, although enjoyed by men and woman alike, often appeals to the younger male members of our club.  It is a great way to combine physical activity and sport with a love for riding, which is a very positive and rewarding experience. Members will train throughout the winter in preparation for competitions beginning in March each year.  There are entry level “Mini-meets” which introduces the younger pony clubbers to the sport of Tetrathlon in a learning environment.  Often, Tetrathletes will go on to compete in Pentathlon, a skill which they will take into adulthood.

The Caledon Pony Club encourages all it’s members to give this great sport a try!
