In the Canadian Pony Club, the competition portion of our Rallies consists of a 3 phase event (Dressage, Cross Country, and Stadium Jumping) held over one, two or three days. Typically, the D Level Rally is a one-day event, and is a riders first chance to try out this type of competition.  Riders must have passed their D level in order to enter, and are placed in a category based on their test level.

For our older members, Pony Club also offers A/B/C Rallies, which are higher levels with higher standards of achievement. The levels of competition offered at National Championship Rallies are:  Preliminary (Jumps 3'7" maximun) and Training (Jumps 3'3" maximum). Regional rallies often offer pre-training level (3'0" maximum) and sometimes Starter level (2'9" maximum).

Veterinary inspections are performed at several different times during the competition to be sure that all horses are fit and safe to continue.

Rallies are run on a team basis, usually with individual awards being presented as well. Teams  often vary depending on which Rally one attends, however they are usually made up of 2 or 3 riders and their horses with 1 or 2 unmounted team members who may be called Captains, Stable Managers, or Helpers.

Caledon is lucky to have the Western Region D Rally held at it’s facility every August.  Our members practice the three phases of competition regularly at our riding meetings, which makes this competition all the more exciting for our young riders.   For more information, please visit the Western Ontario Region website at: www.canadianponyclub.org/westernontario
