• Tetrathlon mini-meet in Perth, March 18th. Run, swim and shoot, and a shooting clinic with John Hawes, olympic pentathlete from Ottawa.   The Perth tetrathlon meet this weekend was a whole lot of fun! The coaching from John and Rachel at swimming and shooting was really awesome; it helped a lot of people with their scores/future scores and techniques.

  I liked how everything was close together and it only took you about ten minutes to go from the school to the pool to the riding to the school!

  I want to thank on behalf of the kids, Suzanne and Janice for all of the organising put into this event, John and Rachel for coaching, Ron and Alex for scoring, Land o' Lakes Pony Club for providing the food, Preston Rosedale farm for providing the great ponies and facilities, and all of the parents who helped out! We couldn't have done all of this without you!

  
  
  
• Pentathlon/Tetrathlon, January 5-6th, 2007, Ottawa

  • Kara Grant, a 27 year old former Pony Club member from PEI, competed and spoke at the Tetrathlon/Pentathlon competition. In her teens, Tara did National Tetrathlon with Pony Club and then moved to Pentathlon which is like Tetrathlon but with fencing added. Her most recent accomplishment was at the November 2006 World championships in Guatemala City where Kara placed 9th in Pentathlon. The horse she rode is named Toffee. She had hoped for a clear round in riding but unfortunately lost 92 points on the 3rd jump. It was her fantastic run that gave her 9th place overall. Being in the top 10 is an amazing accomplishment.
