Regional PPGs, July 1st, 2005

After several team adjustments caused by riders dropping out at the very last minute, 27 riders from 5 Branches took part in the Regional PPG day on Friday, July 1st.The mixed Masters team from Oxford Downs and Temperance Lake Pony Clubs won the Masters trophy. Team members were Amy Claridge, Kathleen Kemp and Ashley Stuewe from Oxford Downs with Jordan Dunklin from Temperance Lake.

Unfortunately we did not have enough riders to make up an A level competition. 3 teams competed at the B level with the team from Appleton and Leeds County Pony Clubs coming in first and winning the Gillian McGinnis Memorial Trophy followed by the Temperance Lake/Appleton team in 2nd and the Ottawa Valley Hunt P.C. team in 3rd. Team members of the 1st place team were Jeannette Gladwin, Morganna Low, Melissa Bayer and Alex Ross.

3 teams also competed at the C level with the Oxford Downs/Temperance Lake Pony Club's team winning the Tucker Trophy by 1 point over the Ottawa Valley Hunt/Appleton team with the Appleton/Ottawa Valley Hunt team coming in 3rd. Team members of the winning team were Morgan McKay, Jessica Jokinen, Karen Donaldson of Oxford Downs with Brittany Dunklin of Temperance Lake.

Team members, volunteers and parents enjoyed lunch followed by strawberries and cream. The day ended with a scramble competition with 18 of the riders taking part on mixed branch and mixed level teams. In honour of Canada Day the races included The Canada Dry Shuffle, The Stanley Cup Race, The Canada Post Race (and no, we are not still waiting for some teams to finish) and the Canadian Flag Race. Riders also received tickets for a draw for a variety of fun Canada Day prizes.

Thanks to Susan Lorden for all her help, to Eleanor Lorden for being our announcer and to all the parents, riders and volunteers who helped out as lane/line judges, starter, prop crew, helped with lunch etc, etc. As usual, without volunteers our competitions could not take place.
