SLOV held its Regional Dressage Finals on August 6th, 2003 at the Richmond Fair Grounds, and they were successful yet again. How to define success? Riders came, riders rode, riders are going on to the Central Zone championships!
Diana Bayer and her helpers put out a great effort not only in securing the Richmond Fair Grounds for our use, but in transporting the dressage ring and setting it up as well. I heard something about painting all the jumps as well!
The evening before the ring was dry and there was some concern over the dust. Then came the torrential downpour overnight. The next day dust was the last of our concerns as we were focussing on the puddles instead. Scores were low as a result of slippery footing, but good enough to qualify a number of riders to the Zone championships.
Congratulations to all riders who managed to make it to the regionals, especially to the only drill team. Organizing eight riders to ship in to one location takes talent, but UCPC managed it and they put on a great show. Unfortunately they are unable to make the trip to York Equestrian Centre for the Zones.
Those who are going are:
Caitlyn Kidney & Cherubim (West Carleton) for both dressage & show jumping
Matthew Kidney & Cutting Remark (West Carleton) for both dressage & show jumping
Gina Billings & Walkover (Kingston & Region) for dressage
Kate Anstey & Evening Dreams (Kingston & Region) for show jumping

N.B. Unfortunately the power outage put a stop to travel and the SLOV team did not go to the Central Zone Championships. As they say, the show must go on! COR went ahead and produced a great three day competition, including national and international PPG.
