• Jan. 1st: HO HO HOLD YOUR HORSES, Reindeer Games (PPG) Postponed to January 8th because of bad weather.

• Dec. 27th: Polo Clinic by Scott Wier from Polo Canada; a one-day (10 am to 4 pm) introduction for novices, a refresher for last year's novices. Location: Heroncrest Stables, MacPherson Road, Smiths Falls; cost: $20. Apply early to Janet Heaslip (613-275-4192).

• Dec. 3rd: Regional AGM at St. John High School, Perth, starting at 9:30 am. Location: 2066 Scotch Line Road, Perth.

• Nov. 20th: C-level clinic on Care of Pastured and Stabled Horses in Winter, clinician Sarah Mayo. Venue: Swallow Creek Farm, Carp (near the Corel Centre in Ottawa). Pictures here.

• Nov. 19th: Regional Banquet, to celebrate SLOV youth, at Perth Golf Club, Perth. Pictures here.

• Nov. 8th: Royal Winter Fair bus tour for Pony Club members and their families. Bus fare $40; free admission to the Royal. Bus pick-up 7:30 am at Smiths Falls Community Centre and between 8:30 and 9 am at the parking lot at the intersection of Highways 15 and 401 (Kingston). Return after the Horse Show.

• Oct. 29th: CreePPG games, "Scare-oncrest" Stables, 588 Macpherson Rd., Smiths Falls, 11 am. Contact Janet Heaslip (613-275-4192).

• Oct. 29th: Used tack sale at Rooney Feeds, Kemptville, 9 am to 1 pm. For more information, check out the poster and the consignment form or contact Cindy McCammon at 258-7201.

• Oct. 22nd: C-level clinic re-scheduled to October 21st.

• Oct. 21st: C-level clinic on Clipping and Blanketing, 6-8 pm. The clinician is Grits McMullen, and the clinic will be held at Swallow Creek Farm, Carp, near the Corel Centre in Ottawa. The fee is $5 and D2s are welcome. Contact Alex Walker.

• Sept. 24th: C-level clinic on Bandaging and Poulticing, 1:30 pm at Threadneedle Farm, Perth. Open to 12 C-level and higher members. After September 9th, any remaining places will be opened up to D2s. Bring bandages or other devices you use on legs. Contact Tammy Roney (613) 372-0924.

• August 20-21st: Central Canadian Zone showjumping and dressage championships, Hamilton.

• Aug. 18th & 19th: Pony Club at SuperEX. Contact Susan Lorden to volunteer. All levels are welcome, horse not required. If you have a pony/horse that is good with crowds and that is available on those days, please let Susan know ASAP.

• August 7-12: National tetrathlon competition in Cochrane, Alberta. Emily Fretts (Land O'Lakes P.C.) and Mathea Stevens (United Counties P.C.) are representing SLOV.

• July 27th: Oxford Downs Jumper Qualifier, 4 pm (tentative time) at Mountain Equestrian, Mountain. Contact Cindy McCammon.

• July 13 to 17: Pony Club at the Capital Classic. Contact Susan Lorden to volunteer. Pony Club members have been asked to sell programs in the stands at the show and march in the parade (no horses). All levels are welcome, horse not required.

• July 3rd: Show jumping/dressage qualifier at Heroncrest.

• June 29th: The United Counties Drill Team, coached by Paul Popiel, will perform at the 2005 RCMP Sunset Ceremonies. The riders are Maxine P., Mathea S., Garnett S., Shelby H., Bronwyn W., and Emma W.

• June 12th: Clinic on cross-country course design and construction of safe jumps, with Mark Isenberg. 1 p.m., Cedar Rock Stables, Perth. Contact Bev Hewitt (613-284-1083).

• June 5th: Regional Tetrathlon stadium competition in the morning and a cross-country clinic in the afternoon, at Hawkridge. Entries due May 16th. Contact Liz Tennent (613-546-4977).

• May 29th: Dressage/Show Jumping qualifier at Terelisa Farm, North Augusta.

• May 28th: Stadium clinic at Terelisa Farm. Free stabling overnight for riders who wish to stay for the Dressage/Show Jumping qualifier.

• May 15th: Applications for B/B2 testing are due to Cat Hunter on this date. A copy of a first-aid certificate and two cheques ($100 and $50) must accompany applications.

• April 17th: Regional Quiz at St. John's High School in Perth. Results here.

• March 28th: Hip Hop PPGs at HeronCrest, 11 a.m. Contact Janet Heaslip 613-275-4192.

• March 6th: Tetrathlon shooting clinic at a shooting range in Kingston, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., coaches and a range officer will be in attendance. Contact Liz Tennent (613-546-4977) to confirm a place.

• March 5th: Doctor Bones, 10-12:30, Community Hall, Smith's Falls. Dr. Bones will have kids dig for bones, as on an archeology site. Then they will name, sort, and categorize what they find, build the horse, and talk about the differences between the human and horse skeletons. For all ages. Cost: $5.

• March 5th: D2 and up Education clinic by Kasia on nutrition. 1-3 p.m., Community Hall, Smith's Falls.

• February 27th: C-level education clinic on conditioning, 1 to 3 p.m., at Fiddler's Green, hosted by Ottawa Valley Hunt. Clinicians Ruth Allum and Erica Tucker, and possibly a vet. Cost $5, pre-registration is recommended. Dress warmly. Contact Tammy Roney (613) 372-0924.

• February 12th: Equine Canada Youth and Horsemanship Day, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the A. M. Barr Arena in Kemptville. Will touch on competitive, educational and recreational aspects of the horse industry, targeting young horse enthusiasts. Guest speakers: Dr. Ray Geor, Gayle Ecker and Dr. Jeff Thomson. Other presentations include career ideas, plus discipline demonstrations including Vaulting, Polo, Reining and T.R.E.C. Registration $25.00, includes lunch. This is not a Pony Club activity.

• February 6th: Tetrathlon shooting clinic at a shooting range in Kingston, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., coaches and a range officer will be in attendance. $10 cost, includes pizza for lunch. Contact Liz Tennent (613-546-4977) to confirm a place.

• January 30th: C-level clinic on First Aid (what to do until the vet arrives) with Dr. Mark Rutherford at Threadneedle Farm (Vicky Hane's place) in Perth at 1 p.m. Cost $5. Contact Tammy Roney (613-372-0924) by Sunday, January 23rd. Future C-level clinics will be planned at this meeting.

• January 21-23: Testing/Education Conference, Toronto.

• January 17th: Regional meeting at the Mlacak Centre, 7 p.m.

• January 16th: Meeting on National Quiz. Martha Corker will contact the Quiz Committee.

• January 8th: Tetrathlon clinic in Ottawa, 12 to 3:45p.m., including swimming in Carleton pool with coaching, and sessions on tetrathlon rules and nutrition. Cost $10. Contact Janice Stevens ASAP.
