November 2008
Well, the weather is getting colder and I am soooo glad our riders have such a wonderful indoor ring to ride in. It is much more pleasant to watch when the wind and snow are not whipping across your face!
We completed our year end testing the first week of June where all members who attempted the riding portion of their level passed. Congratulations to everyone who successfully completed their full level.
Once the smiles were in place after the nerves of testing we hosted our 62nd annual year end awards banquet at the Saskatoon Golf and Country Club. This is always a good time. It is also nice to see everyone all cleaned up and free from horsey smells! Boy do we clean up good!
We held our Annual General Meeting August 25th and began signing up members shortly after for our 63rd year. This year we have 35 members registered with our club. We are pleased to see so many returning members and four new members this year. With such a larger number of riders, we took a few weeks to organize our riding schedule. We kicked off our season with an Education night September 22nd which helped get our riders ready for their riding lessons that began the next night.
Maria Epp successfully tested her C2 level at regional testing this fall. We now have 4 registered members who have achieved this level or higher with our club.
Allie Cruikshank from our club represented the region at National Quiz this year. I heard a good time was had (and a good performance was given) by our Saskatchewan team.
The Shannon Sluser clinic the weekend of October 18th was a great opportunity for our riders to hear an Olympic hopeful firsthand. Thanks to Krystl Ahrens for arranging another first rate clinician for our riders so early in our season!
Elaine has arranged another great opportunity for our riders this month. Sherri Anderson will be our guest clinician November 28-30. All Pony Club members are invited to audit all of the lessons. This is a great opportunity to see another great coach in action.
The SPC Christmas Party is Sunday, November 30th @ Mulberry's. We are planning to adopt a family again this Christmas. The goal is to purchase a Christmas dinner and gifts for a family in need. As well, any rider or child guest is invited to participate in a gift exchange lso coordinated by the Jr. Executive.
It is going to be a good year of loyalty, character and sportsmanship.
Respectfully submitted,
Jackie Pilon
