READ ABOUT DELISLE PONY CLUB'S HISTORY
November 2008
Delisle branch is a summer riding club. We start weekly riding lessons in an outdoor ring once the ground is thawed in late spring, usually the end of April or early May, and ride until about mid-September when days are becoming too short for safe riding in the evening. We generally meet during the week because many of our members are busy at shows on summer weekends.
Delisle members spend the winter learning stable management together and our teams have performed well at the annual un-mounted games or "Quiz" held for all Saskatchewan Pony Club members in late winter. In 2007 and 2008 the Delisle team won the trophy for highest scoring Club.
Currently we have 7 members between the ages of 8 and 13, ranging from beginner (D level) to those working toward their C level. Delisle members have diverse interests and thus clinics for our Club have ranged from equine massage and natural horsemanship to showmanship, farriery and rider fitness. Each year we try to broaden our members' understanding and experience with horses; last year a group visited the racetrack in Saskatoon, and some members traveled to Spruce Meadows during the Masters Tournament.
We are a group of enthusiastic and innovative riders, instructors and parents. We welcome inquiries and encourage new members to join. Please contact Dr. Sue Tedesco, District Commissioner for more information. Email: sueandmark@yourlink.ca
