Northwinds Pony Club

Colleen O'Hagen was a member on the A/B Sask Quiz team at Nationals. The Sask team placed 3rd in the team event. This was Colleen's first time at quiz. Congratulations Colleen.

As spring tries to arrive, our girls are all anticipating testing. We are doing our written and stable management the weekend of May 6th & 7th , and plan on doing our riding on June 11th. The majority of our riders are testing this year, at the following levels: D level – 9 members
D1 level – 7 members
D2 level – 2 members
C1 level – 2 members
C2 level – 1 member
B2 level -- 1 member We are busy trying to prepare the new riders, and their parents, for what is involved in testing.

Our club was very well represented at Regional Quiz this year, with 19 members attending. We were very proud of our accomplishments at this year's quiz, and have some members anxious to get to the higher levels.

As we begin to plan for next season, we are asking ourselves if we want to continue to be as large as we have been for the last 2 years. It is great to have so many new members interested in equine sports, however, it does become very difficult to manage such a large number of people. The difficulty is often not so much with the riders as with the parents they bring to the club. We are also considering not providing mounts for those people who do not have their own. We would be interested to know how other clubs handle new members that come without a horse.
