Ai Hirai lives with her family in Kakogawa City. She has been riding for 5 years and took 1st Place in her division at the All Japan Junior Championship. Ai is also active in other sports such as basketball and soccer. She enjoys karaoke and likes hamburgers.

 

 

Katsuhisa Hirai lives in Kakogawa City where the major manufacturing is steel products and socks. Katsuhisa is studying architecture and will just missing celebrating his birthday with all the international team members while on IPE.

 

Katsuhisa has been riding for five years and qualified for the All Japan Show Jumping Championship, as well as the All Japan Show Jumping Junior Championship. Outside of riding, he also enjoys playing baseball, like music, and his favourite food is strawberries.

 

 

Misato Ichimura comes from the capital city of Tokyo. Misato has been riding for 7 years and qualified for the All Japan Children’s Championships in Dressage. She also enjoys handball, basketball and karaoke. One of Misato’s favourite things to eat is cookies.

 

 

Tomohiko Nishiwaki lives in Yourou-cho. He has been riding for 6 years and qualified for the All Japan Championships and Junior Championships in Show Jumping. Tomohiko’s other interests include soccer, golf and music. One of his favourite foods is Wasabi – he has a stomach of steel.

 

 

 

Sena Watanabe comes from Kobe City in Hyougo (location of the big earthquake). Sena has been riding for 7 years and qualified for the All Japan Championships and Junior Championships in Show Jumping. Sena likes to ski and participate in karaoke. One of her favourite foods is fish.

Daisuke Kato (Kato) competed at the 2003 Basan Asian Games as part of the gold medal winning Japanese 3-day Eventing team, placing 3rd as an individual. He also represented Japan in 3-day eventing at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney in both Team and Individual competitions.

 

Yasukazu Chatani (Kazu) lives in Central Coast, Australia and exports riding horses to Japan for the Crane Riding Club in Australia. He worked with the Japanese Equestrian Team as Team Manager for the Sydney Olympics in 2000 and was Team Manager for the Japanese team at the Inter Pacific Pony Club Exchange in Australia in 2003. He is a Japanese interpreter for the Equestrian Federation of Australia and most recently assisted at the 2005 Youth Olympics. In his spare time he enjoys surfing.
