InterPacific Exchange Report 3
April 30, 2001
We caught the ferry from Picton to Wellington on the 24th. It was much rougher than any other ferry ride I had ever been on on that was a "quiet" day... I wouldn't like to be on that boat on a rough day! That afternoon we visited Te Papa museum which is a new museum right near the water. It was amazing inside with a lot of different exhibits.
The next night we dressed up for the first time in our formal attire for dinner - we were told we looked like Canadian Airline stewardesses, but they are classy, right? :) From there we traveled up to Hawera for the scrambled teams event.
The night before, we went to a rugby match and we cheered on the Hurricanes who won. The competition was well organized and each team of 5 had a group of 6 horses to choose from. For the most part everyone had good mounts had had a good time. My own horse was a refreshing change from the one I ride at home which was nice.
Now we are working our way up through the North Island on the desert road towards Cambridge for the Nations cup. Yesterday we had a lot of fun four wheeling on a 1800 acre farm. Today we went to Taupo and bathed in the Hot Springs after a nice BBQ put on by local Pony Clubs. Tomorrow I think we do luge riding so we're having some fun filled days and we are kept really busy.
That's it for now,
