Inter Pacific Exchange 2007

The purpose of the Inter Pacific Exchange (IPE) is to
enable Pony Club members from different countries,
with common interests, to interact with each other and become friends,
to learn about each other's countries and customs and to exchange ideas.
The 2007 Interpacific Rally hosted by the USA will be held July 17th to July 28st. Teams will start the tour in Washington, DC and depart from Lexington, Kentucky. After a one-day event and tour(s) of the Washington area, the teams will travel by bus to Lexington, Kentucky for the Nation's Cup, held during the USA Pony Club Championships and Festival. While in Kentucky, team members will visit some famed horse farms, equine clinics and the Kentucky Horse Park.
The Canadian Pony Club team will be made up of four (4) riders and two (2) adults (one coach and one chaperone) plus two alternate riders, who must be prepared to fill a team spot, if required. The team will hold a training camp prior the start of the exchange at a location to be arranged by the coach.
There are three (3) applications: one to be used by riding candidates, the others to be used by coach and chaperone candidates. These applications are to be completed and forwarded directly to Jan Jamieson, National Rally Chair, not later than December 15th, 2006. The team will be selected and contacted by phone shortly after Christmas, 2006.
All applications must include a signed copy of the Canadian Pony Club International Team Responsibilities and the Canadian Pony Club Participation Agreement.
Potential riding candidates must be Canadian Pony Club members in good standing who have attained a minimum 'B' standard at the time of application. They must be capable eventers and show jumpers who have actively been competing during 2005 and 2006 and have extensive experience in riding different horses. Members must be 17 to 20 years of age as of January 1, 2007, and should be mature individuals capable of handling the responsibility of being ambassadors for Canada.
Potential coaches and chaperones must have Pony Club experience and be willing to organize team uniforms, travel and fundraising. Coaches and chaperones may be subject to a police check prior to the team selection. Coaches should be able to demonstrate extensive coaching experience in both show jumping and horse trials competitions. Some horse/equestrian experience for chaperones may be an asset. All Coach/Chaperone applicants must be familiar with the Responsibilities of Coaches and Chaperones policy.
Costs will include airfare to Washington, DC and return home from Lexington, Kentucky (from Vancouver approx. $700, Winnipeg or Halifax $650., Toronto $600.) land fee (500.00 US) and uniform, are estimated to be $1300.+ Cdn. Canadian Pony Club pays the airfare and the land fee for the Coach and Chaperone. All qualified Pony Club Members are encouraged to apply, and if selected, to fund raise to help defray the costs.
