Quarry Ridge Pony Club is located in the Southern Interlake, just north of Winnipeg. Our club color is navy blue. We have a membership of 27 riders, ranging in ages from 5 to 16! Stable Management lessons coincide with privately arranged riding lessons. Most of our members are focused on the hunter ring but we have our dressage enthusiasts as well! Our kids are working towards their D right up to one member working on her B! Club activities are organized to allow the entire club to come together as one, like tack cleaning sessions, schooling shows, fun days (mounted games) and clinics. Our District Commissioner, Karen MacLean, our senior member, Megan MacLean and our Assistant District Commissioner, Lisa Brown, teach stable Management lessons. Our club is fortunate to have a former member return as instructor and donate her time on Tuesday evenings, Dawn Reykdahl. Our coach, Catherine McCullagh, organizes the riding portion of the pony club program. Catherine has been active in equestrian sports for years and is a past member of Manitoba Pony Club. Catherine has also recently accepted the position of Regional Show Jumping Chair for Manitoba. Catherine, along with her husband and two young boys own Quarry Ridge Farms. Quarry Ridge Pony Club members are able to improve their riding skills throughout the winter months thanks to the great facility at Quarry Ridge Farms – indoor arena with enclosed breezeway to the barn! Our club is able to offer the pony club program to children who do not own their own horse, as school horses are available for riding lessons. Parents and visitors can watch the lessons from the heated viewing room, or on the risers in one corner of the arena. During the summer months our members ride in the outside, grass jumping ring and cross country course. Our program commences in October of each year and finishes with testing in May or June.
