North Hill Pony Club

and our typical yearly activities schedule

The North Hill Pony Club calls home the Manitoba Horse Council Equestrian Center situated in beautiful Bird's Hill Provincial Park, site of the 1999 Pan Am Games.

North Hill members are very versatile. They participate in Pony Club activities such as Quiz, Dressage, Show Jumping, and Horse Trials competitions, as well as other equine sports: Endurance riding, Natural Horsemanship and Driving. Every year, some of our members represent Manitoba at the Canadian Pony Club National Competitions. North Hill parents are also very involved in the daily activities of Pony Club at the local, regional and national level.

Our instruction program includes riding lessons in the fall and spring as well as stable management lessons during the winter months. Lessons are taught by senior members of the club and/or local riding instructors. Over the years, three members have completed their A level (Jane Payment, Danae Martin, Robby Norris), one her HA (Lindy Norris), and many more their B2 level.

For more than ten years, North Hill hosted a schooling show that had grown into a two-day long event. Unfortunately, changes in the equestrian sport have forced us to cancel our schooling show in 2007. However, we now host an annual Valentine Bud, Spud and Steak in Oakbank, typically the Saturday before Valentine's Day. We also host, with Red River and Quarry Ridge Pony Clubs, the annual Pony Clubs Spring Classic in Bird's Hill Park in May.
