2011 PPG information sheet

Introduction:

Prince Phillip Games – PPG’s are a variety of relay races.  With 4-5 riders on each team, rides develop remarkable skills in balance, timing, coordination, agility and team work.

There are 4 different levels of competition.

“C” is the beginner level for young riders under 11 years of age.  Riders will have a side walker and may be lead if necessary.  At this level they are only allowed to walk and trot.  These young riders will not need to dismount at any time during the games.  The C riders normally play 6 games each meet.

“B” is the next level up.  This level is for any rider under the age of 15.  At the B level they may walk, trot and canter.  They must fix their own mistakes, and at least one of their games will require them to dismount and remount.  The B’s will play 7 games at each meet.

“A” is for the more experienced riders under the age of 15.  This is very fast paced.  Riders must be able to vault to be successful at the A level.  This level qualifies to advance to Zone and National competition. A’s will play 8 games each meet. Riders at this level must make the commitment to play at both Zones and National events if the team qualifies.

“Masters” this level is the same as A’s for all riders over the age of 15 years old.

In order to compete in PPG’s the member must have tested at least D level, must be a member of both CPC and OEF.

Riders are expected to attend all weekly practices. If attendance falls below 80% we will discuss the issues with you and decide appropriate action.

Parent Commitment:

PPG’s is a huge time commitment for both riders and parents on the team.  Aside from getting your child(ren) to weekly practices, we expect parents to help tacking ponies ( for the younger members), setting up, and putting props away each practice and holding ponies if need as well as sidewalking for the C riders.

Also there are 3 competitions each season as this is a team event we expect you to be at every meet.  At each meet parents will also be asked to not only help tack and hold ponies – (and run to the trailer for forgotten item’s) but you will also be asked to help with lane/ line judging.  You must plan to spend the whole day at the meet not just the time while your child(ren) is riding.

Please consider these commitments carefully before making the commitment to join the PPG team.

PPG Pony Program( not being offered for 2011 Season)

This program was developed to help members who don’t own their own pony to be able to afford to borrow a pony for PPG’s

We have some members who have access to extra ponies for use in PPG’s who are willing to lend them out, but not in a position to pay for the upkeep on the extra ponies.

Since we start PPG’s in Jan. there are a number of cost involved in keeping the ponies.  6 months board, farrier cost, spring vaccinations and worming.  Our program incorporates all these cost and also accounts for ponies that are being shared so the cost is shared equally among all riders.

Details of this program will be shared with those who wish to be involved.
