Here are highlight results from the Central Ontario Regional Show Jumping Finals, held on September 19 at Springfield Stables near Brooklin. Full placings follow the highlights.
In this show, four divisions of Pre-Entry level riders competed in two classes each, a Table AM5 single round plus jump-off and a medal class, plus a warm-up round. The higher divisions, Entry, Starter, Beginner and Novice, competed in three classes each, a Table AM5 single round with jump-off, a power and speed class and a medal class, to determine a Champion and a Reserve in each division.
Pre-Entry Division A1
Reilly Norman of the Rising Star Pony Club placed first in the single round with jump-off class and second in the medal class on Timbit to become Division Champion. Olivia Gionet, another Rising Star member, placed second in the single round with jump-off and first in the medal class to take the Reserve spot. These riders had the same number of points, and the tie was broken because Ms Gionet had a rail down in the warm-up round.
Pre-Entry Division A2
Rachel Dainard of the Brooklin Pony Club won the single round with jump-off on Daisy, followed by Grace Varley of the Maple Pony Club riding What's Up Doc. Ms Varley won the medal class with Ms Dainard finishing third, so Ms Varley was Division Champion and Ms Dainard was Reserve.
Pre-Entry Division B
Rachel Smith of the Kawartha Pony Club won both classes on The Backstreet Kid, and was Division Champion. Samantha Fletcher of Brooklin placed third in both classes on Skittles, to become the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Schooling Division
Alexandra Reynolds of Kawartha won both classes aboard Take A Second Glance to become Division Champion. The Reserve was Emily Lindsay of Rising Star on Shatar, placing third in the single round with jump-off and second in the medal class.
Entry Division
Kiara Crosbie of the Maple Pony Club placed first in the single round with jump-off, second in the power and speed class and first again in the medal class to take the Division Championship. The Reserve spot went to Dalton Wright of the Durham Pony Club on Whistling Jay; they placed second in the single round with jump-off, first in the power and speed class, and fifth in the medal class.
Starter Division
Kaitlyn Henderson of the King Pony Club was the Division Champion on Dexter, placing first in the single round with jump-off class and the power and speed class, and second in the medal class. Rachel Scott of the Victoria Pony Club placed second in the first two classes and won the medal class on Peanut, to take the Reserve spot.
Beginner Division
Jenna Meeser of Rising Star won the single round with jump-off and the power and speed class, and placed second in the medal class on In the Ribbons, to become Division Champion. The Reserve was again Rachel Scott of Victoria, this time riding Diamonds From Sierra, again placing second in the first two classes and first in the medal class.
Novice Division
Samantha Lobbezoo was the only competitor in this Division. She completed all three classes successfully and was declared Division Champion.
Rachel Dainard was not only the Reserve Champion in the Pre-Entry Division B, she was also the lucky winner of a draw for a private lesson with the course designer for this show, Mr. Juan Ortiz, a member of the Venezuelan national show jumping team.
