Here are highlight placings at the second Central Ontario Region of Pony Club dressage qualifier for the Regional Dressage Finals, held Sunday, July 9 at Blue Star Farm, hosted by the King Pony Club. Selection for the Regional Finals will be based on scores achieved at this meet plus a qualifier held in June, and a "last chance" qualifier to be held the morning of the Finals. Details follow the highlights.
At the highest level in this show, Second Level, the winner of both tests was Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club, riding Millgate Braveheart. The only other entry, Megan Mattos of the Waussnodae Pony Club, was second on Freddy the Freak. Ms. McKeen was division Champion and Ms. Mattos was Reserve.
In the First Level A Division, Emily Boyce of the Maple Pony Club won Test #1 on Something From Nothing, with Madison Wilks of the Durham Pony Club second on Mega Cool and Samantha Galway of Maple third on Fare Thee Well. Class #2 was won by Christy Chamney, another Maple rider, aboard My Turn; Madison Wilks was second and Samantha Galway was third. Ms Wilks was Champion and Ms Galway was Reserve.
In the First Level B Division, Kayla Neil of the Durham Pony Club was the only entry, riding Adara. In such a circumstance, placings are awarded according to the score attained, according to the Equestrian Canada rulebook. In Test #3, Ms Neil's score was good enough for third place, and in Test #4 she finished with a score high enough to be declared first and Champion.
Carolyn Russell-Poliquin of the Oshawa Pony Club won the Training Level Test #2 riding Cornucopia, with D'Arcy Hutcheson of the Centaurus Pony Club second on Bundle and Hanna Bailey of the Victoria Pony Club third on Let's Rhumba. Ms Russell-Poliquin also won Test #4, with Jenna Scott of the Durham Pony Club second riding Timbit and Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club third on Annie. Ms Russell-Poliquin was Training Champion, with Ms Scott was Reserve.
The Pre-Training Test #1 was large enough to be divided into Group A and Group B. In Group A, first place went to Katie Lostchuck of Maple, riding Lieutenant James, with another Maple entry, Jennifer Nason on Faolin Ruadh second, and Justine Blocksdorf of the Simcoe Pony Club third on Brandee. In Group B, Hilary Howran of the Kawartha Pony Club was the winner on Mackeeba, with Jennifer Pett of the Victoria Pony Club second riding Thunder and Stephen Hall of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club third riding Prospect's Oasis. In Test #2, Group A was won by Maya Kenedy of Maple on Napoleon Brandy, with Taylor Ryan of the Whitchurch Pony Club second on King Cole and Ms Nason third. Ms Blocksdorf took the honours in Group B, with Ms Pett second and Cori Barnes of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club third on Locknigar. Ms Blocksdorf was Champion and Ms Pett was Reserve.
The Starter Division was again divided into A and B groups for each of two tests. In Starter Test #1, the A Group was won by Alicia McCracken of the Simcoe Pony Club, riding Mr Handsome; second place went to another Simcoe rider, Tara Chiasson on Brandee, with yet another Simcoe entry taking third place, Emily Stubbings on Jube Jube. Jane Stephenson of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club won the B Group aboard Merrylegs, with Riikka Kojola of the Maple Pony Club second on Masquerade and Lauren Coleman-Baker of the Whitchurch Pony Club third riding Quinley. The Entry Level was also divided. In Test #1, Group A, the winner was Emma Pasianotto of the King Pony Club riding Curious Jordan, with Rebecca Gissing, also of King, second on Leif Alaric, and yet another King rider, Megan Pagniello, third riding Summit. In Group B, the winner was Sarah Smith of Maple riding Ceulan Copper Bracken; second place went to Wesley Stubbings of Simcoe on Lucky Bag Pipes, and Isabel Brims of the Whitchurch Pony Club was third on George. Ms Pasianotto was the Group A winner in Test #2, with Emily Banks-Ng of King second on Brandy and Jaimie Figueira of the Victoria Pony Club third on Baltimore. This show offered several freestyle classes, which feature dressage performed to music.
In the Second Level Freestyle class, Johanna McKeen and Millgate Braveheart were the only entry, riding "against the book." This means that their placing was determined according to a scoring formula, even though they were the only entry. Based on their score, they placed first.
Emily Boyce won the First Level Freestyle, again riding against the book.
In the Pre-Training Freestyle, Jennifer Nason of Maple finished first aboard Faolin Ruadh, with Hillary Howran of the Kawartha Pony Club second riding Mackeeba and Sarah Nason of Maple third on Dillon.
In the Starter Freestyle, first place went to Riikka Kojola of Maple on Masquerade, with Emma Pasianotto of King second on Curious Jordan, and Janene Howran of Kawartha third on Zia's Tattered Lace. The Starter Pas de Deux class was won by the team of Nikki Ince and Maddy Lang of the King Pony Club, with a mixed Maple/Whitchurch team second (Kyra Holmes and Lauren Coleman-Baker), and another King team third (Emily Banks-Ng and Emma Pasianotto).
