Here are highlight results from the third and last Central Ontario Region Qualifier for the Regional Show Jumping Finals, held on Sunday, August 6, at Audley Road Stables near Ajax. Selection for the Regional Finals will be based on scores achieved at this meet and two other qualifiers, held earlier this year. The Regional Show Jumping Finals take place next Sunday, August 13, at Chance Stables near Bowmanville. Results to tenth place in each class follow these highlights.
In this show, four divisions of Pre-Entry riders competed in two classes each: a medal class judged on equitation, both over fences and at various gaits on the flat, and a single round plus jump-off class plus a warm-up round. The higher divisions competed in three classes each, a medal class, a single round plus jump-off class and a power and speed class, to determine a Champion and a Reserve in each division.
Pre-Entry Division A-1
This division, which is not a qualifier for the Regional Finals, drew only one entry, Dalton Wright of the Durham Pony Club, who rode Pollyanna without being eliminated in either class, and so was Champion.
Pre-Entry Division A-2
In the medal class, the winner was Liz Levin of the Ajax Pony Club aboard Silverado, with Chelsea Geer of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second on Tequila Sunrise and Sarah Smith of the Maple Pony Club third riding Ceulan Copper Bracken. Ms Levin also took the honours in Class 2, with Kassandra Sloan of the Oshawa Pony Club second on Royal China, and Courtney Coons of the Ajax Pony Club third on Sock It to Me. Ms Levin was Division Champion and Ms Smith was the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Division B
In Class 1, with Meaghan Lloyd of the Durham Pony Club placed first on Cabfare, with Sarah Patterson of the Pine Ridge Pony Club second on Suzie, and Sarah McDonnell of the Ajax Pony Club third riding Jalapeno. In Class 2, Ms McDonnell and Jalapeno placed first, with Sarah Smith of Maple second, this time riding Flaska T. Ja Tuppence, and with third place going to Kady Paterson of Ajax on Trigger Appy. Ms McDonnell was Division Champion and Ms Lloyd was the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Schooling Division
New this year, this division was limited to horse/rider combinations with no more than one year's participation. The medal class was won by Carolyn Russell-Poliquin of the Oshawa Pony Club, riding Mr. Zoodles. Jessica Hendriks of the Centaurus Pony Club was second on Dakota, and Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club was third on Dressed to Kill. In Class 2, Ms McGill and Dressed to Kill were the winners, with second place going to Erin McLaughlin of the Toronto & North York Pony Club on Heineken, and third to Ms Hendriks and Dakota. Ms McGill was Division Champion and Ms Russell-Poliquin was the Reserve.
Entry Division (First Qualifying Level)
Rachel Goodman of the Whitchurch Pony Club took first place in the medal class riding Chestnut Hill Tiffany, with second place going to another Whitchurch rider, Jazmin Visco, on Callie, and third place to Alexandra Reynolds of the Kawartha Pony Club on She's Like the Wind. In Class 2, the single round with jump-off, Rebecca Simmons of the Durham Pony Club placed first riding Hott Chocklat, with Ms Reynolds second, and with third place going to Cori Barnes of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club riding Sure Da Count. Ms Goodman won the power and speed class, with Ms Reynolds second and Ms Russell-Poliquin third, this time riding Driving Miss Daisy. Ms Goodman was Division Champion with Ms Reynolds was the Reserve.
Starter Division
In the medal class, the winner was Jane Stephenson of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club on Merrylegs Second place went to Dawn O'Neill of the Ajax Pony Club on After Finals, with Karen Foell of the Toronto & North York Pony Club third riding Delicately Refined. Ms Stephenson also won the single round with jump-off class, this time with Ms Foell second and Ms O'Neill third. Ms Stephenson completed her sweep by winning the power and speed class, with second place going to Ms O'Neill and with Ms Foell in third place. Ms Stephenson was Starter Division Champion and Ms O'Neill was the Reserve.
Beginner Division
Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club took the honours in the medal class riding Mya, with Meagan Christou of Oshawa second on Favor Sierra and Rebecca Adrian of the Kawartha Pony Club third riding Narhans Gift. In the single round with jump-off, Ms McKeen again placed first, with Ms Adrian second and with third place going to Kataryna Borysiak of the Oshawa Pony Club on Midnight Magic. Ms Adrian took the top spot in the power and speed class, with Ms Borysiak second and Ms Christou third. Ms McKeen was Champion and Ms Adrian was the Reserve.
Novice Division
Hanna Bailey of the Victoria Pony Club took the honours in the medal class aboard Let's Rumba, with Sarah Wilson of the Kawartha Pony Club second riding Beauregarde, and Andrea McGill of the Durham Pony Club third on Phoenix Rising. In the single round with jump-off class, Ms McGill was the winner, with Ms Bailey second and Ms Wilson third. Ms Bailey took first in the power and speed class, with Ms Wilson second, and this time third place went to Stephanie Crawford of the Durham Pony Club on Black Edition. Ms Bailey was Champion and Ms Wilson was the Reserve.
Intermediate Division
Katie Murray of Durham won the medal class on Pennywise, with Jenna Patterson of the Pine Ridge Pony Club second riding Mr. Ed. In the single round with jump-off, Ms Patterson was first and Ms Murray second. In the power and speed class, Ms Murray won again, with Ms Patterson second. Ms Murray was Champion and Ms Patterson was the Reserve.
