Here are the results from the first of the Central Ontario Region's Qualifiers for the Central Canadian Zone Show Jumping Championships, held on Sunday, May 30, at Dreamcrest Equestrian Centre near Port Perry, hosted by the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club. Selection for the Central Ontario Show Jumping team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and two other qualifiers, to be hosted by the Ajax Pony Club on July 18 and by the Brooklin Pony Club on August 1. This year, the Central Canada Zone Championships are being hosted by the St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Region on August 28-29.
In this show, three divisions of Pre-Entry level riders competed in two classes each, both single round plus jump-off, plus a warm-up round. Pre-Entry level riders do not qualify for the Central Canadian Championships. The higher divisions competed in three classes each, two single round plus jump-off classes and one speed class, to determine a Champion and a Reserve in each division. Highlights follow, with results to tenth place in each class after the highlights.
Pre-Entry Division A-1
In Class1, first place went to Alexandra Reynolds of the Kawartha Pony Club, riding She's Like the Wind. Emma LeMay-Nedjelski of the Ajax Pony Club was second on Jalapeno, with all others eliminated. James Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club was first in Class 2 riding Target, with Kylie Figueira of the Victoria Pony Club second on Go for Cool, and Alexandra Reynolds third.
Champion was Alexandra Reynolds, Reserve was James Cruikshanks.
Pre-Entry Division A-2
In Class 1, William Dow of the Pine Ridge Pony Club took the honours riding Ava, with Kristin Cappelletti of the Ajax Pony Club second on Oreo Cookie and Kaitlin Devoe of the Ajax Pony Club third on Van Gogh. Jennifer Shumilak of the Ajax Pony Club won Class 2 aboard Morgana, with her sister Paige Shumilak second riding Montigo Bay, and William Dow taking third spot.
William Dow was the Division Champion, with Jennifer Shumilak the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Division B
In Class 1, the winner was Alexandra Kelly of the Victoria Pony Club, riding Black Hat. Second place went to Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club on Colwyn Tegan, with James Cruikshanks third, this time riding Molly Made. Anna Laing-Fraser of the Toronto & North York Pony Club won Class 2 riding Bisco, with Alexandra Kelly second and James Cruikshanks third.
Champion was Alexandra Kelly, Reserve was James Cruikshanks.
Entry Division (First Qualifying Level)
Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club took first place in Class 1 riding Mya, with Rachel Goodman of the Whitchurch Pony Club second on Chestnut Hill Tiffany and Sean Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club in third place riding Cennabarr. In Class 2, the speed class, Johanna McKeen repeated as the winner, with Katie Hoppe of the Brooklin Pony Club second on Beaverwoods Larkspur, and Sean Cruikshanks again third. Alexandra Kelly won Class 3, this time riding Firefly. Second spot went to Jenna Patterson of the Pine Ridge Pony Club on Sky, with Katie Hoppe third.
Champion was Johanna McKeen, Reserve was Jenna Patterson.
Starter Division
In Class 1, the winner was Katelyn Powell of the Durham Pony Club riding Sundance, with Jessica McVittie of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second on Merrylegs, and third place going to Laura Parliament, another Uxbridge-Scugog member, on Star. Mlles. Powell and McVittie placed one-two again in Class 2, and this time Jessica Figas of the Kawartha Pony Club was third on Simply a Miracle. Jessica McVittie won Class 3, with second place going to Katelyn Powell, and Meagan Christou of the Oshawa Pony Club third on Royal China.
Champion was Katelyn Powell, Reserve was Jessica McVittie.
Beginner Division
Madison Reeves of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club took first place in Class 1 riding Pandora, with Samantha MacDonald, another Uxbridge-Scugog member, second on Heart of Gold and Ian Hutcheson of the Centaurus Pony Club third on Polly Wanna Cracker. In Class 2, the speed class, Samantha MacDonald was the winner, with Jessica McVittie taking second spot, this time on Rubiks Cube, and Andrea Edwards of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club in third place aboard Alcatraz. Samantha MacDonald took the honours in Class 3, with Jessica McVittie second and Madison Reeves third.
Champion was Samantha MacDonald, Reserve was Madison Reeves.
Novice Division
Kitty Baker of the Toronto & North York Pony Club took the honours in Class 1 aboard Irish Willie, with Julie McGill of the Durham Pony Club second riding D'Artagnan and Jade Stalk of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club third on Posiden. In Class 2, the speed class, Mlles. Baker and McGill again finished one-two, with Courtney Cotter of the Toronto & North York Pony Club third riding Alley Jazz. Ms Baker was again first in Class 3, with Ms McGill was second and Ms Stalk third.
Champion was Kitty Baker, Reserve was Julie McGill.
Intermediate Division
Katie Murray of the Durham Pony Club won Class 1 riding Jamane, with Andrea Edwards of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second on Romeo, and Callie Evans of the Kawartha Pony Club third on Roxy. Ms. Murray was the only entry to escape elimination in both Class 2 and Class 3 and so automatically won both classes.
Champion was Katie Murray, Reserve was Andrea Edwards.
