Here are the placings at the second Central Ontario Region of Pony Club dressage qualifier for the Central Canadian Zone Dressage Championships, held on Sunday, June 1 at the York Equestrian Centre near Newmar-ket, hosted by the Toronto & North York Pony Club. Selection for the Central Ontario Dressage team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and other qualifiers hosted by the Kawartha Pony Club on April 27, and by the Victoria Pony Club on July 13. This year, the Central Canadian Zone Championships are being hosted by the Central Ontario Region at the Ontario's Pony Clubs Tournament of Champions on August 16.
These results are shown from most to least difficult. In dressage, each competitor normally rides in two classes which are consecutive in difficulty, and has the option of entering a freestyle class (dressage to music). We present highlight results followed by details to sixth place.
At the highest level for this show, Third Level Test 2, the winner was Jenny Rae of the Victoria Pony Club riding Avalon, with Beth Murray of the Durham Pony Club second on Guenther. These placings were reversed in the Third Level Test 1 class.
Daina Brown of the Kawartha Pony Club won the Second Level Test 1 and Test 2 classes, riding Moon Walker.
First Level Division B Tests 3 and 4 classes were both won by Katie Murray of the Durham Pony Club on Jamane, with Megan Mattos of the new Waussnodae Pony Club second aboard Freddy the Freak both times.
In the First Level Division A Test 2 class, Kylie Pinder of the Victoria Pony Club took the honours on Let's Rhumba. Second place went to Karen Foell of the Toronto & North York Pony Club riding a.k.a. "Bob", and Rebecca Olscher of the Waussnodae Pony Club took third riding Jabarra Miskanada. In the First Level Test 1 class, Kylie Pinder again placed first, with second place going to Rebecca Olscher and third place to Karen Foell.
In the Training Level Test 3 class, Michaela Brown of the Kawartha Pony Club took top honours aboard Stardust, with Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club second on Millgate Braveheart. Third place went to Karen Foell, this time riding Silver Jubilee. In the Training Level Test 2 Class, Kaley Fountain of the Victoria Pony Club took first on Thunder, with Johanna McKeen again second, this time followed by her sister Jennifer McKeen riding Colwyn Tegan. In the Training Freestyle class, the winner was Johanna McKeen, with Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club taking second spot riding D'Artagnon and Jennifer McKeen third.
The Pre-Training Test 2 class was won by Christina Chamney of the Maple Pony Club riding My Turn, with Michaela Brown second on Stardust and Lauren Pinder of the Victoria Pony Club third aboard Rebecca. Ms Pinder and Rebecca won the Pre-Training Test 1 class, with Jessie Ball, also of the Victoria Pony Club, second on Corona's Kiowa; third place in this class went to Katelyn Powell of the Durham Pony Club riding Sundance.
Courtney O'Brien of the Brooklin Pony Club won the Starter Level Test 2 riding Mandarin. Second went to Christine Oldridge of the Victoria Pony Club on Snow Pony Jack Pine, with Alex Dewdney of the Maple Pony Club third on Contessa. Alex Dewdney won the Starter Level Test 1 class, with Christine Oldridge again second and Andrea McGilll of the Durham Pony Club third on Phoenix Rising. There was a tie for first place in the Starter Freestyle class, between Andrea McGill and Sophie Kaplin of the Maple Pony Club who rode Moonlight.
In the Entry Level Test 2 class, the winner was Sophie Kaplin, with Alex Dewdney second and Emily Boyce of the Maple Pony Club third riding Spooky Moon. Alex Dewdney won the Entry Level Test 1, with Emily Lindsay of the Simcoe Pony Club second on Tarragon and Rebecca Simmons of the Durham Pony Club third riding Shiraz.
