Here are the placings at the first Central Ontario Region of Pony Club dressage qualifier for the Central Canadian Zone Dressage Championships, held on Sunday, June 16, hosted by the Oshawa Pony Club. This was a well-attended show, with 85 competitors. Selection for the Central Ontario Dressage team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and other qualifiers to be hosted by the Victoria Pony Club on July 14, and by the Durham Pony Club on July 28. This year, the Central Canadian Zone Championships are being hosted by the Western Ontario Region August 17-18. This show also offered separate classes open to Pony Club non-members.
At the Beginner 1 level, first place went to Monica Ruegsegger of the Bowmanville Pony Club, riding Star. In second place was Christine Oldridge of the Victoria Pony Club riding Snow Pony Jack Pine, and Sarah Bagworth of the Tynedale Pony Club was third aboard Tynedale Spike.
At the Beginner 2 level, Sarah Angus of the Maple Pony Club took the honours aboard Let's Go Cowboy, with Danielle Heft of Tynedale second on Tynedale Simmons, and Christy Chamney of Tynedale third on Dark Man.
The Beginner 3 winner was Natalie Quinn-Steinberg of the Maple Pony Club riding Go for the Gold. In second place was Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club riding D'Artagnan, and in third Kaley Fountain of the Victoria Pony Club on Thunder.
The Basic 1 class was so large that it was split into two divisions. In Division 1, Kylie Pinder of the Victoria Pony Club finished first on Let's Rhumba. There was a tie for second between Danielle Berry of the Durham Pony Club on Dutchman and Aubry Holmberg of the Toronto & North York Pony Club on Kompressor. In Division 2, the winner was Katie Murray of Durham riding Jamane, with Julie Pett of Victoria second on Tim Bit and Melyssa Cowan of the Oshawa Pony Club third on Oval "X" Theme.
At the Basic 2 level, Kendal Lehari of the Toronto & North York Pony Club took first place riding She's All That, with Katie Murray and Jamane second. Third place went to Jordan Thompson of the Durham Pony Club riding Braveheart.
Jordan Thompson and Braveheart won the Basic 3 class, with Allison Birdsall of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second on Solo Spirit. Third place went to Jessica Harcourt of the Tynedale Pony Club aboard Infiniti.
At the Basic 4 level, Megan Mattos of the Kawartha Pony Club took first place riding Freddy the Freak. Second went to Jenny Rae of the Victoria Pony Club on Avalon. These were the only two entries to complete the test.
At the Medium 1 level, there were two classes. Megan Mattos placed first in one of them aboard Mayhem, and second in the other riding Freddy the Freak. Jenny Rae and Avalon won the class in which Megan Mattos finished second.
The Medium 2 and Medium 3 Divisions were both won by Sarah Rae of the Victoria Pony Club, riding Gentle Ben "against the book."
New this year was a Beginner Walk/Trot Kur. Andrea McGill of the Durham Pony Club was the first winner riding Cloud #9, with Jessica McCarron of the Kawartha Pony Club second on Tess.
Allison Birdsall and Solo Spirit won the Basic 2 Kur, with Rebecca Olscher of the Kawartha Pony Club second on Finnegan.
The Brooklin Pony Club team of Korie Weston riding Joanna Blue and Courtney O'Brien riding Bocephus won the Pas de deux class, with another Brooklin team, Ashley Sakaguchi riding Auzzie and Amanda Weston riding Jake, in second place. Third place went to the Durham Pony Club team of Katie Murray and Julia McGill.

Medium 2 - Sarah Rae of Victoria was the only entry on Gentle Ben, and was placed first "riding against the book" with a score of 62.43. There was no Champion or Reserve in the Medium 1/2 Division.
Medium 3 - Sarah Rae was also the only entry at this level and scored 59.17, also good for first place.
The Medium 2/3 Champion was Sarah Rae, with Megan Mattos the Reserve.
