Here are highlight results of the 2001 Central Ontario Regional Show Jumping Finals, held at Dreamcrest Equestrian Centre north of Oshawa on Sunday, September 9, presented from the least to most difficult levels. Details follow these highlights.
All those entered in the Starter, Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Divisions at this show became eligible via a set of qualifying shows held during the Spring and Summer. The Entry level classes were invitational. Each Division rode three classes, with a Champion and Reserve declared based on combined results.
At the Entry A level, the Champion was Lauren Cappelletti on Champagne Cocktail, from the Ajax Pony Club. The Reserve was Erika Belanger on Sock It To Me, also from Ajax.
The Entry B Champion was Andrea McGill on Razz Ma Tazz, from the Durham Pony Club, with fellow Durham member Kayla Neil in Reserve on Pal-O-Mine.
At the Entry C level, Julia McGill was Champion aboard D'Artagnan, also representing the Durham Pony Club, with Mallory Jones of the Ajax Pony Club the Reserve on Natasha.
Lindsey Forkun of the UxbridgeScugog Pony Club took the Starter Division Championship on Generals Mission. The Reserve was Kelly-Anne Moar of the Temiskaming Pony Club, riding Cajun Glory.
At the Beginner level, the Champion was Katie Murray of the Durham Pony Club riding Honey Bee Sweet, with Eliza Gravel of the Temiskaming Pony Club the Reserve on Rubix Cube. Coinciden-tally, these two young riders both tried out for, and made, the 2002 Canadian Prince Philip Games team at a selection camp near Calgary last weekend, and will compete at next year's World Championships in Britain.
The Novice and Intermediate Divisions declared only Champions, no Reserves. The Novice Champion was Katie Shipley of the Pickering Pony Club on Lochnigar, and the Intermediate Champion was Michael Durward of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club riding Gerrie Maguyre.
At the Advanced level, Kevin Durward of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club was Champion riding Jack, with Kate Webb of the Simcoe Pony Club in Reserve riding Merlin.

There was only one entry in the Novice Division, Katie Shipley of the Pickering Pony Club riding Lochnigar. Since she was not eliminated in any class, she won all classes and was declared Novice Champion.

TEAM COMPETITION
There was team competition at two levels - mixed Entry A/B/C level and mixed Starter/Beginner level.
First place at the Entry level went to the Ajax Pony Club team, made up of Erika Belanger, Lauren Cappelletti, Stephanie Lefebvre and Mallory Jones. In second place was a team from the Durham Pony Club comprising Kayla Neil, Andrea McGill, Cori Barnes and Kristen McKnight. Third place went to a mixed Durham-Oshawa team, whose members were Chelsey Horton, Julia McGill, Sarah Conboy and Morgan Vanclief.
Among the Starter/Beginner teams, a mixed Ajax-Temiskaming team finished first; its members were Kelly-Anne Moar, Sarah Bortoluss, Dawn O'Neill and Eliza Gravel. Second place went to Durham, with Leala Pomfret, Jordan Thompson and Katie Murray. The Uxbridge-Scugog team took third place, with Lorraine Smith, Kathryn Robertson, Madison Reeves and Lindsey Forkun.
