Pony Clubbers From Across Ontario To Compete At 2000 Ontario's Pony Club Tournament of Champions

On Saturday, August 26 and Sunday, August 27, Central Ontario Region will host the 2000 Ontario's Pony Club Tournament of Champions at the York Equestrian Centre near Newmarket. About 75 Pony Clubbers from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, as well as host Central Ontario, have qualified to compete in the Central Canadian Dressage and Show Jumping championships. (The Atlantic Canada Regions are staging their own Championships this year.)

Here is a schedule for the Ontario's Pony Club Tournament of Champions.

Show Jumping: Starter, Beginner, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced

August 26 - 9 am - 4 pm: Class 1 - Single round with jump-off if necessary; Class 2 - Speed class
August 27 - 9 am - 4 pm: Class 3 - Nations' Cup format, team and individual placings, two rounds and a jump-off if necessary.

The Central Ontario Show Jumping team includes Ashley Aimone of Ajax, Kitty Baker of Toronto & North York, Christy Barnes of Pine Ridge, Allison Birdsall of Pause Awhile, Erin Blakely of Kawartha, Heidi Breen of Tynedale, Zoe Brown of Pause Awhile, Katherine Card of Timberline, Melyssa Cowan of Oshawa, Michael Durward of Uxbridge-Scugog, Tammy Harrison of Simcoe, Ashley Lawrence of Durham, Kendal Lehari of Toronto & North York, Becky McCuaig of Tynedale, Graeme Moxley of Pause Awhile, Katie Murray of Durham, Christine Pett of Victoria, Madison Reeves of Uxbridge-Scugog, Katie Shipley of Pickering, Kate Webb of Simcoe and Charlotte Winder-Richmond of Timberline.

Dressage

August 26 - 9 am - 4 pm: Basic 2B, Basic 4B, Medium 2B, Basic 2 Kur
August 27 - 9 am - 4 pm: Basic 2C, Basic 4C, Medium 2C, Basic 4 Kur, Medium 2 Kur

The Central Ontario Dressage team includes Christy Barnes of Pine Ridge, Allison Birdsall of Pause Awhile, Christine Culbert of Toronto & North York, Larissa Grabowski of Durham, Beth Murray, also of Durham, Jenny and Sara Rae, both of Victoria, and Shandra Robbescheuten of Durham.

The York Equestrian Centre is on Davis Drive (Highway 9) east of Newmarket, between Highways 404 and 48. Spectators are welcome without charge.
