ABOUT COCHRANE PONY CLUB

The Cochrane Branch of the Alberta South Region is located within the beautiful foothills within sight of the spectacular Rocky Mountains. Our club was chartered in 1961 as an off-shoot of the Calgary Branch and continues as one of Alberta's longest running Pony Clubs. Our Branch colours are Red, Black and White

We are headquartered at the Pony Club Grounds on the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society lands north-west of Cochrane. From May until October our mounted meetings are held on Wednesday evenings to provide the opportunity for members to work with their own mounts in a variety of disciplines geared to 3-day eventing (dressage, cross country and stadium jumping).

Each member is assigned to a riding group based on his/her testing level. From November to April, we ride indoors at the adjacent Agricultural Society arena. An active winter education program and a regular spring/summer riding program are part of the Cochrane calendar. The winter meetings feature presentations by guest lecturers and the opportunity to learn from a variety of experienced equine instructors about horsemanship, safety & first aid. Field trips are provided to visit stables, veterinary centres, and training facilities from time to time. In the past, Cochrane has been very well represented in all Regional disciplines and we have had representatives participate at the National and International levels.
